Heaven really warmed up the atmosphere in Cleveland with a 3-day-bash called "The Rights of Spring". It was basicly a none stop party that started Friday and lasted till Sunday.

There were numerous events, including 'Drink Specials' & Buffets, throughout the weekend, but the highlight had to be the night everyone showed up in Togas. Very Hot!! 12 ACTION 5-83

VOLLYBALL TEAM

Cleveland's Greater Cleveland Volleyball Association (GCVA) Tournament players celebrate 3 years of dedication and hard work.

I'm sure that everyone has heard of the Cleveland Browns, Indians, Cavaliers, and Force. And many even know about the Cleveland Brewers (professional woman's football team). But this reporter has another team that most of Cleveland's Gay Community, doesn't even know about; the GCVA, Gay volleyball team.

Since the spring of '80, between 12 to 20 Gay men from the Cleveland area have been playing volleyball at St. Paul's Church, in Ohio City. Their sincere dedication in perfecting volleyball skills such as, bumping, spiking and serving drills, along with. inter-team scrimmaging, prove to be quite exhausting!

The team has been participating in national volleyball touraments since the summer of 181 when they Jere invited to participate in the Macison Midwest Invitational Volleyball Tournament. Later that summer the GCVA went to the Ohio Valley Invitational in Columbus. The highlight of 181 was the Alanta Venture Sports Invitational in October, where 18 teams from around the country (2 from Cleveland) participated in this popular sport. "The GCVA proved to be a very formidable foe, on the volleyball courts".

In 1982 the team traveled to the Gamma Minnesota Winter Invitational and the Louisville Invitational tournaments.

All tournament entry fees, transportation, sports equipment, and renting the Church gym is paid for by each player! Now that's dedication, the GCVA players have shown rare qualities in perfecting not only, their skills, for this fastpaced, energetic and highly enjoyable sport; but also a sincere effort to bring people to Cleveland. The team has plans in the works to have Cleveland's Gay Community meet each of its players, so as to help in the support of future outof-state tournaments, and their ultimate goal of hosting a volleyball tournament here in Cleveland.

So, lets all get out there and support these outstanding men who represent Cleveland, at its BEST!
